NEW VIDEO! As promised here is the video we released at our 2017 Niñas Arriba College Fund benefit concert. It’s a journey from the gang violence that’s taken over El Salvador to the young women there who are working to heal their country with education and safe public spaces. We are proud to feature breathtaking documentary photography from UT Professor Donna DeCesare, and the staff of Glasswing El Salvador, where our Niñas Arriba graduates are now interning.
Also featuring: Videography by Sin Retorno Studio, Video Editing byMarlon C Saucedo + Libertee Valenzuela, Audio Engineering by Morgan Hokanen and special thanks to David Holiday and Stone Room Concerts!
We are feeling the love! Last Saturday’s benefit concert at the Stateside Theatre was truly magical. Roger Blevins (of Mingo Fishtrap) and Patrice Pike brought the house to their feet, the silent auction was BOMB, we released a new Niñas Arriba mini-film (will post soon), and hundreds packed the place to raise more than $18,000 for young women in El Salvador!
But it’s not over! A generous supporter and her friend have offered us a $1,500 matching grant to help us raise another $3,000 before this Saturday, August 12 at 5pm! This would allow us to fund two full college scholarships for one year.
Please consider helping us meet this match. It’s dollar for dollar, mi gente, and every buck counts!

After six years, Ninas Arriba
now has two college graduates
who are part of our new paid internship program
with Glasswing International, where they are working on a $10 million park renovation to create safe public space for families. By April 2018, all four of our young women will have their college degrees!
This is seriously awesome! We cannot thank you enough for your support, your donations, and for being a champion for young women like Xiomara, Marta, Rosmery and Vanessa. It’s truly inspiring to see this community embrace four determined young women in El Salvador and give them a real chance at creating a brighter future… for all of us!
Check out these great photos from Dave Pedley, who captures the magic of our show every year. Thank you, Dave!

Wow! We are flying high after our graduation party blowout for Xiomara, our first Ninas Arriba graduate, and our most successful fundraiser to date!
My partner Jodi and I just got the final numbers from the show and, thanks to your generosity, this event nearly doubled last year’s fundraising totals. The silent auction alone raised $4,500, and with the help of individual and business donors, we were able to raise nearly $20,000 this year! Wow.
Ninas Arriba can now fully fund the remaining college semesters for Marta, Rosmery, and Vanesa, as well as provide a 6-month paid internship for each of them upon graduation! In past years we’ve scrambled to get enough funding together for each semester and now, we can truly plan for the future as we help each of our scholarship recipients take hold of theirs!
In addition to the heartfelt prowess of Austin musical phenoms Sara Hickman and Suzanna Choffel who brought the house down at the Stateside Theatre, we have so many people to thank! Huge hugs of thanksgiving to all our sponsors, silent auction winners, attendees and supporters all over the world for making it possible for driven young women like Xiomara, Marta, Vanessa and Rosmery to go after their dreams and embrace their full potential.
But the fun doesn’t stop here. If you weren’t able to donate before or during the event and would like to be make an impact in a young woman’s life, please click here and make a difference!
